Ergonomic set-up

In my journey of becoming the strongest version of myself, I realized there are ways to control and create a conducive environment for personal growth. For every “passive” actions that you do, the goal is to optimize it.

Some of your daily tasks done improperly might slowly cause long-term damage to your body.
Examples: sitting, sleeping, pooping, walking, using a computer mouse, watching the computer etc.

Some Ideas:

(1) Ergonomic vertical mouse: Game changer.

  • I use a mouse for work and I have to do an intense amount of movements and clicking constantly for a few hours per days, especially in the morning. Using a regular mouse, I felt that there was a constant pressure on my palm, which turns red overtime. Really dangerous situation and opening the door for the carpal tunnel syndrome. My forearm also felt a bit sore.

  • I looked at a few options and the vertical mouse since to be the best. I just bought the cheapest one on amazon (25-30$CAD)

  • There is a few hours of learning curve, but then, it’s becomes very natural to use.

  • Advantages: Lower pressure on the wrist

(2) Ergonomic desk chair:

  • No brainer, I spend most of the days sitting. Protect your posture (lower back, glutes, legs, arm, neck)

  • The minimum requirement: adjust seat heigh, adjustable arm rest, lumbar support, head rest and option to tilt back.

  • Mesh chair are more breathable, but usually more expensive.

  • Budget option: Used Staples Hyken mesh chair or any “mesh ergonomic office chair”

  • Definitely need to try the Herman miller Aeron $500 - $2500 CAD

(3) Ergonomic pillow:

  • Aim for a pillow with strong neck support. Good normal pillow usually cost $100+. I prefer the ergonomic one at cheaper price.

  • Recommendation: Mkicesky Cervical Support Pillow $55 CAD

  • Budget option: IKEA ROSENSKÄRM Ergonomic pillow $25 CAD

(4) Ergonomic sitting position at computer desk:

  • Now that we have the mouse and chair ready, we need to know how to sync it all together in order to have the best optimal ergonomic position while working.

  • You might need to get a new desk table to optimize your posture.
