Mental health
Because the mind is connected to the body, we first focus on building a strong body. Therefore, the mind will follow with positive ideas. Nevertheless, our environment may “influence” us without us knowing it. So, it’s important to “choose” what we want to be “influence of.”
“Monkey See, Monkey Do.”
“We see the world, not as it is, but as we are or as we are conditioned to see.” – Steven R. Covey
Example of passive “brain washing”:
Social media (Friend comments on your post, likes, news)
Your idol (what he/she says, believes, etc.)
Parents (telling you what’s best for you)
Friends, coworkers (Tell about how they go with their lives and you should do the same)
Watch TV or news (lots of bad news and successful people = money)
Read a book (more ideas that influence you)
Your neighbour bought a new car (Influence you to buy one too)
Your own mind (Keep telling yourself negative thoughts)
etc.
Your “environment” condition your subconsciousness.
Too many people living someone else’s life and then end up living a life full of regrets.
“Don’t let other people decide what works best for you. They haven’t been through what you experienced. Know yourself and decide for yourself.”
Why not have “control” over your thoughts. In other words, control over your life.
Tony Robbins:
People do things to seek pleasure or avoid pain.
Brain filter information based on our “conditioning”
(0) Replace negative thoughts with positive one:
If life becomes difficult and your mind keeps creating negative thoughts, I like to listen to “motivational” video while doing exercise. It’s a temporarily boost of positive ideas that can trigger a chain of positive action.
e.g.: Listen to Tony Robbins talking about blue prints while doing gym. Get some new positive ideas to change your life. Boom, cook meal prep and sleep early. Feels healthier -> sit down and write a plan, etc.
(1) Ideas of rules: Create yourself a set of rules that will help you achieve your dreams.
The logic behind it is similar to “religious” books and religion in general. They go to a “sacred place” and refresh themselves the “rules”. Religion is easy because someone did the hard work already. Why not just build “your own rules” and go to your own “sacred place” (home, etc.)
Notes: You want to make sure the way the sentence is build and the words connect with you. For example, you saw a video on the internet, and your idol said “Only you can do it.” and you felt amazingly motivated about it. Then, this should be a kind of rules that works for you.
Example of rules: (See list below)
Treat people the way you want to be treat.
Be honest, tell the truth.
Don’t forget who you are, who you were and who you want to be.
Learn, try something new everyday. Always grow and move forward. If you don’t try, you will never know.
Consistency, moderation and perseverance are the keys to success.
Don’t waste your time. Use it to fulfill your dreams. Take actions that goes in accordance with your goals. Live the way you want to. Do what the fck you want to do. You don’t need to think like others. Spend your life doing things you want to do more than what you have to do. Do things that goes in accordance with your dreams. If you can’t justify why, then stop doing it. Do things that makes you feel alive. Let life carry you. Know what you want and affirm it. Stop enduring situation you don’t want to be.
Don’t try to change others, they have their own path. Not everyone can understand or care about your goals, accept that fact.
Various level and form of happiness. Respect other people happiness no matter how bad you think it is. Don’t judge people by your own standards. Don’t force your ideals to others.
Mind your own business. Don’t compare your journey to someone else. Don’t be jealous or envious. Compare yourself to your old-self, not others. We are all different. The most important judge is you. Don’t be too hard on yourself.Stay with positive, motivated and passionated people. Stay positive, be positive.
Self-awareness, be careful of external influence.
Decide with your heart. Don’t listen to your brain.
Control over your thoughts: You have the freedom to choose the response to a stimulus. There are things that you don’t have control on, but you have control on your attitude toward them. It’s alright to make mistake. Don’t try to control the events, Allow the experience to happen.
Trust yourself.
Stop over-analyzing.
Don’t worry too much about others, think about yourself first.
Create opportunities, stop waiting for them to come at you. Luck is being prepare for opportunity.
Use your money to buy experience, not objects. Live a life creating good memories.
Education: Focus on building skill, not get 100% grade.
Don’t retain your emotions. Let them free.
You have to find places you like to go.
Don’t forget to enjoy the process. It’s not the result that is the most important.
Accept compliments and criticisms.
You said you’re gonna do something, then DO IT !
Pleasure of life, balance with achieving goals.
Don’t look for love and love will find you. Men give and women receive.
Stop wasting your time on people who doesn’t give a fck about you. Spend your time with those who care about you.
Don’t forget the “why”. People focus too much on the hard work.
Take the time to relax and replenish your energy.
If everything around you is wrong, focus on yourself.
Don’t be an ignorant. Just because you don’t understand them doesn’t mean you have to treat them differently.
Your reality is what you believe.
Do what you have to do and the good people will come to you.
Always free some time for personal research
Soften your facial muscle.
(2) Morning run: Choose a 4-6 sentences using words that connect with your soul and put them in a notes where you can read them every morning to refresh your mind. Repetition is key. The more you read them and the more they mean to you. It’s your way to cleanse the “external influence” (trying to influence you), with your own thoughts. You want “choose” your own mindset.
First set: “Work hard now to prepare myself for the future fun opportunity.”
You must sacrifice the pleasures of today for the freedom you will earn tomorrow.
Do what it takes. Prepare for the opportunity. Don’t think, just do it.
Be patient.
Every seconds you spend thinking about what somebody else has is taking away from time that you could create something for yourself.
Second set: “In the opportunity at the moment, so focus on enjoying the experience as much as I can.”
“Stop thinking, just have fun.”
好きなことやれ。
Be curious. Look it up. Focus on a life that fits you.
You can’t win every battle.
Every seconds you spend thinking about what somebody else has is taking away from time that you could create something for yourself.
Only you can do it.
When you face challenges you are not comfortable with, don’t run away, just do it.
The best time to start was one year ago, the second best time is today.
The fastest way to find love is to love yourself first. Do what you love and be what you want to be.
If you can control your own thoughts and mindset, the action will follow. You will focus less time on living a life to please others and spend more time on your goals (what makes you genuinely happy.)
(3) Let your mind rest.
Your mind need quiet time to process information you gathered during the day. When you take the time to digest information, you are more creative and generate new ideas.
If you constantly bombard your mind restlessly, you don’t really think. You are stuck in a loop.
Action to take:
Mindfulness activities: Meditation, yoga, deep breathing, naps, cigar, alcohol tasting, etc.
Relax brain activities: walk, house chores, fixing stuff, writing.
Relax activities: Massage, face mask, Jacuzzi
Reduce smartphone usage: shorts videos, reels, social media, etc.
You bombard your brain with quick dopamine non-sense. It takes some times for the brain to digest all this useless information.
(4) The comfort zone:
The first time you do something new, there will be resistance from you and others. The more you do it, the more you think less about it. Confidence. Understand. Do it. again. again. Repeat until you are confident enough. Stop thinking and move on to the next challenge.
Some quotes:
“You can’t control what happened to you, but you can control how you feel about it.”
“Empty your Cup.
Rebuild from Scratch.
Become the person you want to be.”
“Your mind is like the water. When it is agitated it becomes difficult to see, but when you let it settle, the answer becomes clear.” – oogway
“The mind is everything. What you think you become. We are shape by our thoughts: we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.”- Buddha
“You don’t have to live your life the way other people expect you to.”- Chris Guillebeau
“Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about un-becoming everything that isn’t you so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.”
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
“It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.” – Emerson
